How many times do you.....
Click after the pump clicks off?
I always grab it twice more after waiting for the bubbles to settle. Takes a little less than a gallon more. |
Mine will not take any more. Spits it out no matter how long I wait for the bubbles to go down. It didn't shut off on Friday when I filled up. Luckily I was standing there and only spilled about 1 or 2 tenths of a gallon.
|
Yup. Mine does the same. When that pump clicks off she is full.
|
Generally speaking when the pump kicks off and I click it again gas spews out into the overflow. Sometimes as I pull the nozzle out I still get some overflow.
|
The last three or four fill ups I have been having trouble topping it off. If I walk away after the first time it shuts off it is about two gallons short. The last two gallons is a pain to get in. It shuts off several times.

Mine clicks off every half gallon or so-something must be wrong. Takes me a long time to fill up
|
Once it clicks, it's rare to not have any spillage when trying to go for a second.

Must be a yellow thing, my new car does the same, when it clicks, you are done. My old boxster was not like that. |

Depends on the gas station you go to... I experience all of the above, Chevron here cuts-off early, Mobile fills all the way before turning off.

Funny.
The old 987S could always fit another 1/2 gallon after the "click". The old 993 Turbo could have an extra gallon wedged in after the click. And it needed it! LOL!! The new 991 C2S.....nothing. I like it this way. |

Never.
It's not worth the risk of getting gas on the paint.

When the pump stops for me I am done, and if it turns out to be the tank is not full then oh well. This is after sloshing gas on the outside several times...
I have the best success filling the tank with the pump at about 2/3 of max flow. If the pump shuts off at the very beginning then I rotate the handle so it is upside down and then fill it. And in that case I listen for the rush of air to tell me it is filling up and I watch it very closely; one or two times I have had the pump not shut off and gas come spewing forcefully out... blah... My FJ is very similar, it is finicky about fill ups. Steve |
depends on the actual pump nozzle.
some click off when full, others need manual intervention |
interesting that many fill up completely. There are gas stations everywhere here so I always run half full. In mind I have convinced myself that a lighter gas tank makes for a more fuel efficient car.
|
When it clicks it's done. I fill it all they way up since it's my DD and I fill it every week as it is.

To be fair my first overfill experience was the first time I filled up anywhere but the local spinx |

Know someone that likes to keep clicking until gas almost spilled out on his Mercedes ML320. Eventually he broke the fuel gauge sensor which was inside the gas tank and the whole gas tank needed to be replaced.
Even our gas cap has warning text on it saying do not overfill. |
