Gators on rear trailing arm
 

I am doing a rear brake job with new rotors and removed my passenger trailing arm arm. I removed the gators and now for the life of me cannot get the inward most snap ring to expand large enough to go back in place....I do not want to damage the rubber boot (gator)...any tips...or just use a quality zip tie ???
