Spare tire and wheel on 2000 Boxster
Recently purchased the Boxster and decided to check things throughout. When I got to the spare tire, it was seriously lacking air. After attempting to inflate it I discovered that the valve stem had a major leak. The tire on the car was the donut type and hard as a rock. Took it to a tire shop, but the guy declined to even touch the tire/wheel.
Does anyone have the red wheel, Continental donut type tire and if so what do you do to get a functioning spare? |
My local gas station and Firestone attempted to replace the spare tire valve stem on my 2000 Boxster last week with out success.
After 14 years it had dry rotted even though it had never been on the ground! The Goodyear shop did it fine and it was $3.15. Got lucky! Check around. |
I have one I no longer need. Make me an offer
It's a spare tire/wheel and the black cover, no tools. |
Check around and don't overpay. The spares you see on eBay for $200+ have been there for years unsold. You should be able to find one for well under $100 (+ shipping). I threw two of them in the trash because they weren't worth the hassle to sell/ship.
Start here, its listed for $1. Close enough that you can drive up and pick it up to save shipping. Porsche 986 Boxster 996 Carrera 17 Inch Spare Wheel |
