Broken CV Joints
 

My CV joints are broken on the left axle. Boots are torn and the balls are gone. Porsche wants $945 for an axle and aftermarkets are $100 but I'm being told they are Chinese garbage and break in 3 months. I found a kit for $104 that replaces the inside joint at the trans. Are they any good ? What to do about the outside joint at the wheel ? What do you guys do to repair/replace the CV joints ? AFFORDABLE !

I would try the $100 axle if it were me, Advance has them and they do stand behind their products. There is no core charge so you could take them back

Inner joint is separate part from axel and outer joint.

You can swap inners and life gives on. The outer boots can be done at the same time.

I put the $100 ones in 3 years and about 12,000 miles ago. No problems.

you can also purchase decent low mileage ones from a salvage yard. quality porsche parts Ebay store is a great place for these types of parts for short money . they may be used but they are authentic parts .

Wish I could tell you! A local shop that repairs old Porsches and VW's got them for me after I got the bad news regarding what actual Porsche axles cost hahaha.... I did that in 2011 and I've got about 12,000 miles on them.

i have picked up parts with very little usage on them and have had no problems . it is an option to get a genuine part at a fraction of the cost. probably cheaper than the chinese stuff .

Because it is designed to go on your Porsche. The cheap aftermarket axles are adapted to fit anything. They are heavier than the oem gun-drilled axles.
Buy used axles with the understanding you can return them if the joints are bad. If the boots are not in great condition replace before installing.

Now I don't work for Advance, in fact I am currently unemployed seeking gainful employment. I guess you got a bad pair from wherever to describe them the way you did....I had advance order a pair and they were rebuilt OEM Porsche ????

I did not buy them, a buddy of mine works there and he ordered a set just so I could look at them. I would not hesitate to use them. I used a rebuilt axle from Advance on my BMW E36 3 years ago and it was and is fine and also rebuilt OEM...also a C Note in price.:confused:

Can an axle for a Tip be adapted to fit a 6 speed manual ?
