Sylvania Class Action Suit

Anyone get a post card telling them they are part of a class action suit against Sylvania for false advertising regarding their automotive headlights? I got one this week. Not sure how they got my name and address. I did buy some Silver Star bulbs for the 986 over a year ago, but I do not recall registering them with my address.

To be honest I thought they were pretty much as advertised. They are brighter than anything else I have used. My only beef was they do not seem to last very long. One burnt out in about 6 months and I do not drive at night that much.

Not sure how they got your name, but you might have some big bucks coming your way! (for all my Canadian friends - 10 bucks is 10 bucks - each!)

I used to run Silverstars in one of my VWs. Light was indeed a little better, but damn things burned out in around 6 months. And that specific VW's lights were not exactly easy to remove.

Sylvania Silverstars are PepBoys junk.

Osram Silverstars are fine.

You simply cannot maintain German vehicles via PepBoys.

Difference of opinion

I beg to differ about non porsche parts.

A few examples. On a 2003 Boxster

Battery. Autozone. $176.00 they installed it no charge.
Dealer. $410.00. $125.00 labor.

Right front turn signal socket. From a eBay store
$10.00 with express shipping I had it the next day.
my guy installed it in 5 mins no charge.
Porsche part not sold separately must purchase
The whole headlight assembly. $1,400.00
125.00 labor.

What me guy told me and it makes sense Porsche
Does not mfg batteries or light sockets.

But if you want to support your local porsche dealer
Go to it.

Personally I have better uses for my funds.

I went through many silver star bulbs with my subaru. At least a dozen. I wish I would have gotten six months out of one.

Never again

For that Briggs & Stratton suit it was like $1 per defendant if you took no action, and you could join the suit or opt out and sue for $10.
