Congrat's! Let us know what you think after driving it for a few weeks. I think that the 996 is one of the most underrated cars around.
And its not just the M96, you'll be surprised at how many parts the 996 shares with the Boxster! |
Very nice! Love it! I would love to have one but then I would have to give up my 986 and I am not ready to do that! I need a bigger garage!
|
Hope you love it! (I love mine) The drive is different, but there is a distinct "family resemblance ". Sticking w/ 986Forum is a good move...there isn't a 996 community that compares to what we have here.

We need more pics though:D

If only they would have put fender flares on the 996 and given it the wide haunches, it would look so much sexier. Body kit?
Unfortunately, it looks like a hot flat chested blond. Not quite as sexy as it could be. The 996 needs plastic augmentation surgery :) But never the less, it still is a very nice car, ripe for some mods:D Glad you decided to stay with us trimmer, you have certainly had plenty of Boxster time and im sure it translates to some 996 things too in many areas. |
I'm picking up exactly that car on Friday for a weekend test drive.
May I ask how much you paid for it? I'm thinking $25-30k. Is that the right range? |
Thanks everyone! I am pumped. Will be a daily driver. I live in Florida where I can do that! As far as cost. This is one of the best I saw. It is like new and PPI was perfect, so I paid a little more. I really had a great liking for the couple I am buying from and really trusted them.
I don't kiss and tell but paid over 30k... More pics,...here we go! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1407334190.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1407334206.jpg |

Trimer you found the least used Cabriolet in America. Although I would do that IMS before putting another mile on it. Looks like it was a northern car that did a whole lotttttt of hibernating?
Although I have feeling you're not going to keep this very long given your previous cars. Unless you keep it as garage queen like the previous owner and add another sporty coupe. |

Lucky you, looks like this is going to work for you trimer!
I'm out of luck for such a nice car... Not only I would get it stolen the day after I got it, I'd also end up getting my wife's fat 4.6L gas hungry 'white' SUV as exchange. Can't let something like that happen to me, never! |

daily driver eh? I might do a clear wrap on some of those high traffic interior bits by the center console, the door pocket lids, e-brake, etc. It'll keep the interior looking that new and such a rare color is going to tough to replace on the cheap.
On the outside, definitely clear bra the front bumper and hood. Especially if you drive any backroads. I had this on my car from the factory and did not replace it when I re-sprayed the front bumper. Big mistake, my bumper looked brand new for years and within a few months of riding around with it bare I was already seeing stuff I didn't want to see. p.s. Try finishkare #425 polymer spray. Keeps darker colors cleaner, longer. When it rains, the water runs the dirt off the paint because of the teflony slippery finish. And I would HIGHLY recommend using the Griot's Garage green or blue towels that have the long nap and no prickly hooks like typical microfiber towels. |

Great idea on interior pieces. I will get all over that for sure! |
Nice, sounds like you got a deal for a low-miler. You even got the nice leather option. Half hood means it was probably the factory clear bra kit (expensive option). Just hit that with the Plexus to keep it from yellowing, which is what happened to mine.
p.s. Regarding the #425 spray from FinishKare, I just want to note for anyone reading that recommendation that I'm not product brand "fan boy". I find all these high end detailing brands to be largely the same. But there's definitely something proprietary in that product that I've not been able to replace with any other brand. I just wish I had it from day one when I had a dark colored car. |
Looks great, Join the club. I have stuck around as well, but miss my old 986. I may pick up a used tip cab 996 one of these days as a beater. Is that natural brown or cinnamon interior?

Pics, whats up with the green ??
Want me to fix them ?? http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/t...pse7016b66.jpg |
I actually really like the cinnamon interior. I prefer it as it's darker than the other browns. Enjoy the car. Do you think its much quicker than your 986. My impression of the 996.1 was that it wasn't much quicker than my 986.i miss the sound of the m96.

Love seeing other p cars around, I won't have two for a very very long time, but really hoping to snatch a 914 sometime. And then it may be 911 time.
|
Congrats Trimer, beautiful well kept Cab.
|
So trimer........are you going to fly into BDL and pick up the car in Middlebury?
There are some awesome roads in the Middlebury/Southbury/Oxford area that would suit this 996 perfectly! Plus, it would make for a great trip down the Atlantic Coast to Florida. Just sayin'............. TO |
