Last 2 remaining issues- Fire in the Boxster -Help please

I am encouraged to say that I have the new relay panel installed and all of the burnt wires replaced and spliced, all 155 of them. There are two remaining issues that have me stuck:
Does anyone know exactly what function the power top relay connections serve to the power window circuits? I know that there are two connections to the "com open" and the "PW Cntrl In" terminals, but if they were not connected or if the top relay had failed, would that cause the windows not to function at all. They do go down the few millimeters when the door is opened and up when closed as they are supposed to, but that is the limit of their motion. Without knowing the type of signal they deliver to the circuit, I have no way of testing the windows. I would prefer not to have to buy a $140+ power top relay to find out if that's the culprit. The top seems to operate fine otherwise.
The second problem I have is the Airbag warning light won't go out, but there is plenty of info in this forum and elsewhere to troubleshoot that.
If anyone could shed some light on the window problem or describe a test method, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
HamB3

Are you saying you need a top relay ?

the relay lowers the windows a inch or so then the top latch is released, and keeps the windows from reaching the full up position until the top is up and latched. that is the only interface i can think of between the top relay and the window circuit....

Thank you for your reply. Do you know if this function was not sending the appropriate signal to the window circuit, would this preclude the window from operating?
Thanks
