How much was your Boxster new?

I have the window sticker.

$62,000 plus tax, lic, reg.

Bought $15,500.

A 2004 Cadillac Eldorado is $4500 in very nice shape.

BIGJake111 07-29-2014 09:47 AM

Original sticker here is 60,882

Bought the car for 12.5k

Worth a 6th of what it was new, and seemingly close to bottoming out, I don't mind sitting on this car for a few years at all.

oc-boxster 07-29-2014 10:27 AM

59,600 here. Found the window sticker in the owners manual when I bought it.

BoxsterSteve 07-29-2014 11:56 AM

My 2000 S was a bit over $91,000 over the curb. The PO gave me the original sales invoice from Pfaff. I nearly crapped myself.
Then he had the dash reworked to add cupholders. Next he had the console done in Arctic Silver when he bought speedster humps.
I bought it 11 years later with 47,000 miles for $19,000.
It turned 56,000 miles yesterday on the way home from Indianapolis.

Adjusted for inflation that would be 911 gt3 money today, nice to know the options were such a premium then as they are now haha.

BoxsterSteve 07-29-2014 12:16 PM

Jake, mine is a rather lightly optioned vehicle.
It may have something to do with the fact that it's an S, as well as a Canadian market car.
We get so sandpapered up here in the Great White North...

I believe the base started at 40 and s at 50, could be 50 and 60, but my car too is an s, and a fairly optioned one at that. However sounds like you got a fine car for a nice amount of money haha.

Chuck W. 07-29-2014 12:27 PM

Bought it new in 2001. Window sticker is $59,997. Adjusting for inflation that would be $80,744 in today's dollars.

Out the door cost was $65,194 which would be $87,738.

Ebell914 07-29-2014 12:35 PM

I would like to know the options....the original owner spending money to rework the dash for cup holders means there was plenty to burn!!! I am just curious what crazy people with money get on their no-limit Boxster ;)

Mine is an '00 S with a nice set of options:
Traction Control
M490 + M680 Stereo and DSP (I think sounds Just fine ;) )
Engine Lid Storage Box w/Speakers
CDR-220
Heated Seats
Colored Center Caps
Cruise Control
Windstop
CD Shelf (ok - completely useless and since replaced with factory original storage shelf)

My sticker was in the $62k range. I got her last January with 53k on the clock and a fairly fresh clutch and LNE IMS bearing for $14.7k...I would say I got a steal!!!

And mine would be $85k in today's dollars...about right...with the Burrmeister and all ;)

cardiffgiant 07-29-2014 01:18 PM

Mine is a 2002 S. When I did the car history on it, the original purchase was over $60m. I got it in 2012 with 78k on it for $14m.

Steve Tinker 07-29-2014 02:51 PM

Ha, you guys got off lightly.....

My Australian delivered Boxster S with virtually no extras left the showroom in 2001 for around $US152,000 (that's 2001 money not 2014 money) which is over 2,5 times the US cost. You had to be seriously wealthy to shell out that kind of $$ for a 2 seater.

Now worth about $US25,000 on the open market if I were to sell it.....

Toppy986 07-29-2014 03:45 PM

Originally a US car that came north, MSRP was $70,739 U.S. in 1999
At that time the exchange was 1.502
In Canadian $106,289.00

Two words.......HOLY $HIT!!

doctorm3 07-29-2014 04:58 PM

I bought my 2001 S (Black over Boxster Red / Stuttgart build) new for $61,488. I immediately added aftermarket wheels ($3k) and had the dealer install the Porsche Sport Exhaust ($2k). So.....about $65.5k.

In 2009, with 19.5k miles, I sold the car to a good friend for $20k.

A month ago, I bought my car (now with 24k miles) back from my friend for $16k

I then began reading this forum voraciously and started to freak out about owning a low mileage 2001 Box......next stop, the best Porsche mechanic in southwest Michigan. IMS, RMS, new clutch, new rear axles, oil change, all filters replaced....yada yada yada....$5.5k.

This is an expensive love affair:ah::ah:

Interesting. Mine has every available option, 264hp stock, and was same price 4 years later.

BIGJake111 07-29-2014 06:50 PM

I think they actually went down in price over the years, I think the 2.5 had a higher sticker then the 2.7

Deserion 07-29-2014 07:31 PM

Mine was $47,965 in 2003 (early 2004 run), and I paid about $17,300 for it in December 2010.

Mom's 987 was $49,845 in 2006, paid $28,000 in September 2012 (very nice condition).

My 2014 Boxster S cost me £57,000 ($97,085)

DennisAN 07-31-2014 12:18 PM

Is there anyway of determining MSRP other than buying one of those "certificates of authenticity" From Porsche? My original sticker has been gone for many years amidst 4 owners.

Current PCA member price is $100. http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/porscheservice/ownerservices/certificateofauthenticity/

Perhaps a list of list prices for all of the many options?

You could try to duplicate the original sticker yourself by looking at your option codes listed on the sticker on the inside of your front trunk and using this chart to determine the prices:

:dance:Hello everyone

There is a copy of a form Bill got when he purchased
The Boxster in March 2014.

I don't know where the form came from only that
It was in the packet with owners card and other papers.
Given to Bill by the sales girl at the porsche dealership
Where the car was purchased.

Purchase price from ******************************** was $16,990.00
Road hazard package was. 1,469.00

Mileage 58,526

husker boxster 07-31-2014 02:43 PM

2008 Boxster S Limited Edition - sticker $66,725, bought new on 1/2/08 for $58,000

2008 Cayman S Sport - sticker $75,825, bought 12/12 for $42,000

So I've got $100K in Porsches. Last payment on the CSS next mo. The LE has been paid off for 2.5 yrs.

My friendly local Porsche salesman wants me to trade both in on a 991. Nope, not going to happen. Not interested in 911s. But he has an ulterior motive - he covets my CSS.

amagalla 08-01-2014 09:16 AM

$56,950.00 according to the original order list provided by the dealer.

Current PCA member price is $100. Certificate of Authenticity - Owner Services - Porsche Service - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

Find out where is was originally sold. That dealer will have the original options list and cost from their paperwork.

Tony

DennisAN 08-01-2014 10:09 AM

Thanks, but....only has about 2/3rds of my options. I've seen elsewhere that option X30 dark rootwood steering wheel (for example) is about $3K.

According to CarFax mine was bought from Prestige Imports, Lakewood, CO. I'll see if they want to play ball with me.

2001 Base car in Canada -$59 000
'S' -$71 000
My car was $94 000 new with the most expensive option being the colour for $4100. Was 'built to order' in Stuttgart (in the old 928 factory) and delivered to Toronto.

keysguy 08-03-2014 12:01 PM

$62,000 in 2000. I got lucky when I bought my car. I got it from the dealer in Atlanta and the previous owner supplied paper records of everything that had ever been done to the car.
