3,000 mile boxster

I was at world imports in Jacksonville today...worldimportsusa.com. They have a black with tan 99 box...with 3,000 miles on it. It's a tiptronic...but it was crazy to see this brand new 1999 boxster.

Thought I'd share. Online says they are looking for just over 20k. This car was absolutely brand new...very cool.

Wow, what a waste of a car! How could you buy something like a Boxster and not use it? I just don't get it.

Like they say over in the Rennlist forum, not driving your P-car is like having a smoking hot girlfriend that you never screw. The next guy gets all the fun.

My wife said the 928 was the ugliest car she had ever seen...I almost smacked her...AND I guess that means I will never be getting a 928! That 928 there is ridiculous!!!

I just googled some images after reading what you type. Being someone new to the world of Porsche, I sorta agree with your wife

I've seen a 2,000 mile 986 before.. That was a couple years ago.

It failed pre- qualification for an IMS Retrofit by a mile. The owner would not address the underlying issues that we found, because he insisted that there was no way the engine could be in poor health with 2,000 miles. Because of this we parted ways and he didn't move forward with repairs and the IMSR.

3 months later the engine failed.

All this reminds me of my wife's brother. He has a 2002 M3 which has done only about 1000 km in the 7 years he has owned it. A '79 911SC which has used one tank of fuel in about 10 years, and not been driven more than 20 km at a time. Also has about 24 motorcycles, a few of which are classics but about 8 are brand new bikes which have never been used at all, just sitting under covers. And not really collectable bikes at all. I can't fathom his logic, I keep telling him that all of this stuff needs to be used, since motor vehicles are not designed to just sit there. I think a lot of it could end up being of little value. His DD is a commuter bike. I suppose he thinks that one day all of this will be a desirable collection, but not in our lifetimes in my opinion.

I just found an 02 with 11.3K miles on it -- IMS bolt sheared.

I dropped in one of my top end rebuilds.

Not sure what to do with it. My daughter is still too young to drive
and I've got 6 street cars (5 P-cars) for 2 drivers......
and 4 more track cars....

This Boxster is just so clean -- it smells like a showroom.

Mike

That smells is a lot like the smell of money.... We see low mile disasters frequently.

I have a very low mileage Boxster and several other cars and there was no goal of hoping they might be worth something by not driving them much, or saving them for the next guy, just a short season and mileage spread amongst several cars.
