Opened up oil filter

and found a whole bunch of green flecks. There are a few metal flakes but nothiing sticks to the magnet. .Any ideas? CEL has not illuminated again since it was reset. Last code was P1341(camshaft deviation of 9.2 degrees left side). Cheers, Guy. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1405561899.jpg

Looks like chain tensioner pad wear which would explain your cam shaft deviation. Fixable.

Hi,

i agree concerning the pad wear, but how will you fix that?

OK you can echange the tensioners in a first step. But if the pads are really weared out they need to be replaced. If they are really weak they can also brake.

To replace the pads i think you have to pull the engine. Don't think you can do a replacement of the pads while the engine is in the car. If you can do it while the engine is in the car, please tell me how to.

Thnaks & Regards

They can be changed with the engine still in the car by bolting on a cam holding fixture and them removing the cam cover. I think someone recently wrote this DIY up..........

The green comes from the internals of the variorum servos.

In your experience, how long would you say the replacement of the variocam pads would take?
