Boxter Door Lock Issue
 

I have a 1999 Boxter. When I lock the doors by pressing the button on my key, all lock but when I unlock the same way, the driver door will not open. I can hear the lock mechanism operate but pulling the handle does nothing. I can sometimes lock and unlock again and finally the door handle will operate. The passenger door works fine. I also have the same issue with the driver's door when I lock the doors using the central locking button inside the car. When I lock the car it's usually about 10-15 seconds later that I get a double-beep from my horn, which I think is an indicator something is wrong. Any ideas a to why and what I need to do to correct? Thanks.
