Door Lock Issue

Hello all, hoping someone can assist with a door issue I'm having. The door doesn't lock manually with the key, or with the remote. When I hit the remote button to "lock", I get one beep, but the doors stay unlocked.

Looking through some other threads, a couple items that could be relevant and/or may provide more information: the window does go down when pulling the door handle, but immediately goes back up when you release it; there is an aftermarket cd player; and the door panels themselves are obviously not original (I have mostly gray interior yet the door panels are black).

Any help with the issue is much appreciated!

Latch / lock mechanism. It sees you pull the handle but does not recognize the door latch being open. Also, sounds like it is mechanically bound or stopped from locking.

It otherwise opens and closes? Just won't lock?

How's the weather in The City??

Hello timco, thanks for the response. Opens and closes fine. No other issues, other than the fact that I can't feel secure leaving it anywhere because anyone can open the door at any time! (The alarm will go off if I click the remote and then open the door, but door will always open). Sorry for the noob question; if it's the lock/latch mechanism, how do I go about sourcing that? Is fixing relatively straightforward?

Weather is great in the city, if you're into it. Never much higher than 75; often 60 and foggy. Not for everyone I know!

There's a few parts guys on here for used or Pelican should have that. Pelican runs this site. Great source.

I grew up in Antioch and spent my teens in the city after I got my license. Spent days at Fort Point before it was secured after 9-11. Coit tower used to be free!

key not working

I just bought a key for my Cayenne and had it programmed, but about 5 hours the key will not lock or unlock doors unless you use the keyhole lock. The SUV is 10 years old, so I just emailed the dealer to find out about others with the problem.
