Rear Storage Shelf mod ideas
I would like to hear / see some unique mods made to the rear storage shelf. I have a white '98 986 with the Savannah tan interior. The rear shelf looks like tan carpet.
Looking for ideas....

THis is way out there
You could install a bank of Peltier devices and vent the heat out of the rear, installa large camel back and put beer in it...run the tube out the doors to sip on.
You could mod it so you have a tangential blower to blow cool air on your neck while you are driving....warm air during the winter

I was thinking of upgrading the shelf appearance; it's limited access makes it somewhat impractical for most other uses. Reupholstering with leather, or covering with carbon fiber come to mind. Any other suggestions....

I'm working with another forum member to finalize this, but in a month or so potential option will be one of these

Now that I have rear speakers getting this or keeping the speakers is going to be a terribly hard decision.

Once I get the standard version fully worked out, I'll be working on one that will have the locks for the rear self, so you might not have to make that hard decision

I am sure it would be easy to switch back between this and stock whenever it is concourse time.

It would be nice if the rear storage was lockable. The only pistol I can fit in the center console is my PPK.

Sounds like it's time to upgrade to the 2003-2004 dashboard with a glovebox. My P99 can fit in there.

Yes, it would be nice. I can only fit an ounce of weed and a pack of EZ Wider 1.5s in the center console.

Don't keep your weed in the center console. The heat can really dry it out.
