986 top stuck down

Had my top down for a day or two and went to close it and it will not budge. When I had opened it up it was not smooth as the little bag deal had slipped down deep in it. I managed to pry it out.

Now the top down light is on all the time, when I start the car the windows drop as normal. I pull up the emergency brake and then press the close the top button and I hear a slight push of the roof motor when I press either way. I can't manually pry it up the plastic cover, it seems stuck. Everything looks normal but on the riders side I notice a small 3 inch bar with a small hole in it that is hanging free.... like the screw fell out. What do I do? What did I do?

Need better pictures! Your owners manual will show you how to disconnect the top from the pivot arms so you can manually raise the top until you can figure things out.

thanks I will search out how to get the top working manually first.

Your probably going to need to remove the rod from the opposite side. The one that controls the top on top - not the metal cover.

I took it to my mechanic and he did not want to mess with it. Anyone have a link to how I pull off these rods so I can get some access? Someone said to get a owners manual but I can not find anything on-line.

It will take some reading but the answers is probably in this link.
