Code P0410

Hi guys,

My car has been giving me code P0410 every 150 miles after I reset the code. From what I have read, the two codes P0410 and P1411 go together for both banks, amd the usual suspects are the valves, vacuum hoses, air pump, or vacuum reservoir. However, my car has only been giving me only code P0410 consistently, which I believe is not common when these things happen. I'm going take a look at the secondary air injection system, check some vslves and hoses. I also plan to swap the O2 sensors between bank 1 amd 2 to see if the problem follows. Any ideas, suggestions, or opinions?

About two years ago my Boxster began throwing different codes. I also had a flat spot at about 3300 RPMs. After searching the forums I determined it was the MAF. It appears that this unit will cause various codes. Looking at "all mota" link, this is one possibility on your issue.

Did you do a search on this forum?

I did search the forum, but somehow I was focusing on the P0410 P1411 threads. How labor intensive was your fix? You took both the exhaust headers off, right? I don't have a Durametric to check, but I hope my problem is the same as yours, and I will probably do this repair soon. Thank you for the thread!

Mine started with only the 410 and then I later got both. Mine goes away when the weather is warmer, the system is not checked in warm weather. I have choosen not to chase this issue with the assumption/understanding it is SAI related and more trouble than what it is worth.

Yes I took off both sides to do the job. Just spray some PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench on the bolts and let them sit for an hour or so. I recommend getting new manifold bolts, gaskets, and anti-seize compound for the new bolt threads.

Can't the SAI be flashed and deleted?

But then hancock1701 would be polluting more than the car was designed for. And since he lives in southern California, if he got caught, he loses his first born.

The only things that I'm worried about are the cat converters getting ruined and me buying expensive OEM cats or not being able to register the car.

Jager, did you get the bolts from a local hardware store? I checked ******************************************** diagram and it says the bolts are M8x28, I assume the pitch is 1.25?

No, I ordered mine from German Part and Restoration... My local Porsche parts supplier. The size you list looks correct.
