New Meds, might as well sell her :(

So I have been diabetic for 40 years. Insulin....the whole 9 yards. So the latest thing that needed addressing was blood pressure. The meds say I have to limit exposure to sun as much as possible. In the last 2 years I have spent 10K making the 986 as bullet proof as possible, but turns out I'M not bullet proof. So I guess I either drive it like I was a vampire or sell, because top up is just depressing......

Sorry to hear. Some of my favorite top down rides are late evening into night. Fresh, cool air and the moon and stars above!

Sun block ?

And I agree , the best time is in the evening or winter with the heating on and a cap and jacket .

Find a good hat.

Well in case you didn't know driving at night with the top down under the stars is just as good if not better than the sun......especially in the country (Indiana!?!).

The glow of the headlights, in fog, on a dark country road is magical. For fun you can hit the headlight washers....and blam you get an amazing light show

Don't be ridiculous, put the top up! No matter what you replace it with, you'll still have to drive around like you're a vampire, but it won't be a Boxster. Around here I drive with the top up most of the time because it's either too cold for a convertible, or if the sun's out in summer, the high altitude makes the sun too intense. I even bought a hard top that I use 7 months of the year. Plenty of people drive Boxsters around with the top up without feeling depressed !

Besides vampires are all the rage now ;).

Keep it and do what others say. Hat, sunscreen and night driving. Some things are not worth sacrificing. The enjoyment the Boxster brings you is one of them.

Looking into hard top.....never get to drive at night....usually gigging...drums don't fit in a Box. I have some awesome hats btw.

Hat.

That is how Justin Timberlake rolls with the top down.

I question if you are helping the "get a hat" cause by using this example.

paintboy 06-08-2014 01:18 PM

Those who know what HCTZ is will know hat is really not gonna help.

paintboy 06-08-2014 01:19 PM

Might install a sunroof .....

Wear a full face tinted helmet while driving around town. Otherwise, top up.

jmatta 06-08-2014 07:20 PM

Whats better, quality of life or length?

Tucker2 06-08-2014 09:28 PM

Drive at night.

jb92563 06-08-2014 09:48 PM

Huh, been a HCT user for a couple decades and did not notice any sun sensitivity at all.

I have a nice socal tan to boot. Perhaps it will not effect you or your body may adapt after the initial breakin period.

No reason to sell. If you need top down time, go racing and wear a helmet, much more secure than a hat.

I find top up just as fun but enjoy cloudy top down days the most.
