OBC will not activate

Ok you OBC hack experts I need your help.
Installed the stalk and went to get the OBC turned on
Went to 2 different Indy's both had a error in the coding
One said since I have a different head unit that wasn't factory the program didn't like it .
Any Ideas????

I live in San Jose, CA

By the way I have a 2003 S

Lets see,

did you wire the stalk as "described/documented" to the gauge cluster?

Did you swap the head unit/gauge cluster too?

As far as I know, enabling the OBC is not a big deal, but reprogramming the DME can be...

Z986 06-08-2014 10:55 AM

Head unit was changed out but not the gauge cluster

check out Renntech.org, go to 986 then OBC and cruise control install.

Head unit = DME?
non factory = reprogrammed or even non OEM-Hardware?

Thats what the computer said DME?
So what should the tech do?

just-discivered-fog-light has had 28 comments?????
And this one has only 6, which 3 are mine.
I have a real problem that I'm trying to resolve obviously this is the wrong forum to belong to

You should have seen my thread about humans achieving light speed someday. It was like 4 pages.

This attitude will not help. Lots of articles and threads on this here and rentech. You're adding an accessory that was not stock to your car. Very specialized and seems most folks didn't have this additional coding issue.

Well, if your head unit /DME is non-stock...getting kinda difficult to help without ANY further details about it.
How about Porsche dealership? Could be worth a try.

How are we supposed to help without any useful information?
Head unit? That's a stereo. Bad info on your part.

He probably meant the DME, but how are we to know? Aftermarket? Is there even an aftermarket unit that'll work with this car? I don't know.

You need to:

1) find out what the problem is and get back to us using the proper terms.

2) do some investigative work for yourself. Get in there and look at the unit. Is it OEM?

If you do #'s 1 & 2, you will probably find that you've answered your own question and are wasting our time with questions that we could have no way of answering since you failed to provide the necessary information and we cannot see your car. :)

Nice attitude. I'm sure everyone will just fall over themselves wanting to help you now.

You're right - wrong forum.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe there are no suggestions because you have a unique problem?
This is a great community forum with lots of helpful friendly people.
Unfortunately, that's the antithesis of your local area - I'm qualified to make that statement because I live here too...

Try Renntech.org. Much better chance of someone there having some helpful suggestions for you. Assuming you don't insult them first too!
