Awesome drive on FM455

Drove with wifey on the FM455 from Lucas to McKinney last evening.

Perfect top-down cruising weather and almost traffic free roads - The cool wind, mild weather and the purring boxster engine in the back was a perfect end to a super-nice weekend.

Seems like you're ready for a PCA "Sunday Drive". :)

Next one is being held this coming Sunday, starting at 1:00 PM. 110 miles from Celina - Van Alstyne - Sherman - Whitewright - Ravenna - Denison - Lake Texoma, almost exclusively on FM and CR twisties. Final destination is the Point Restaurant at the GrandPappy Point Marina for an early supper.

Here's an overview of the drive:

Thanks TeamOxford and Bruce for the words of encouragement - Will try to make it Sunday next.....

I was going to do that drive, even got the day off! But, my parents decided to fly in this weekend to visit. It would be tough to fit 4 of us in the Box! Oh well, next time.

I used to live in north Carrollton and went to The Colony High School...always used to love West Plano Parkway on the way to school in the morning...of course back then, it was empty with NOTHING around - especially no police....my old 914 loved those twisties....

The Sunday Drive scheduled for this afternoon has been CANCELLED. There is an 80% chance of severe rain and thunderstorms in the North Texas/Southern Oklahoma area that caused enough concern for the organizers to cancel. The drive will be rescheduled at a later date.

As a consolation, we all get to stay home and watch the Canadian GP on NBC.

Bummer! Anyway I look forward to the next time we get to do this!

Bruce

Looks like the drive today is canceled due to bad weather:(

Cheers

Sudhi

Twas a shame, too. At the 1:00 scheduled start time, there was no precip anywhere near the route, and by 2:30, there was none within 200 miles. This was also to be my first event as a drive leader.

Oh well, next time.

Sunday Drive - October 12th

The Sunday Drive is being rescheduled for October 12th.

Did a pre-drive with the other drive leaders this morning. Rained almost the whole time; wet roads the entire trip. Actual mileage is 130 miles, 116 of them on secondary roads.

LOTS of twisties, well over 100 corners, some very technical. Even with the rain, a rest stop, and crawling through several town centers, we averaged over 55 mph. This is going to be one awesome drive in the dry!
