3.2 vs. 2.5 insurance

How much of a hike can I expect? Also just curious how differently a c2 would be insurance wise? Many thanks.

Ask your agent. Get a quote. Only way to be sure.

For what it's worth....I have an '08 base and '02 S...and the insurance is within pennies of each other per 6 months.

Generally insurance is based on cost to repair/replace and not so much on performance in a given model. Other factors include miles driven, driving record, location and of course the big one AGE of the driver (sorry Big Jake) under 25 is a big hit in cost.

I was surprised, but my insurance went down when I replaced a 2009 Passat with my 2004 986 S. The Passat was a fairly nice performing car, but nothing compared to the Boxster

It hasn't really been that bad insuring me. In general the boxster is a good deal on insurance, cheaper than it was to insure my sisters civics.

I wish I knew that info as I may have went with an S model instead.

Jake,

My '99 is $186.60/6 months
My '00 Base is 197.00/6 months
My '02S is $247.70/6 months

My '99 996C4 is $312.60/6 months

Hope that gives you something to compare.

Rick

My 04 S is $556/year in California

papasmurf 05-28-2014 11:51 PM

Is that full coverage?

That seems like a really good rate IMO if that is for full coverage. I think mine runs about $375 every six months for full coverage with high deductible and and high coverage limits.

aneal000 05-29-2014 03:52 AM

GEICO just quoted me $95 for 6 months of liability on the 98 boxster. $150 for 6 months with full coverage and a $500 deductible. $180 for 6 months with a $100 deductible. I also have 2 other cars, am 40 years old and no accidents, but probably a speeding ticket or two that would show up.

It is likley the number of cars, if they see that you own multiple cars they know you can not possibly be driving them all at once.

My 97 Boxster and 99 996 are within $100 of each other.

Insurance is like real estate - location, location, location.

Yup, and while we enjoy great weather in So Cal, we pay for it

Ebell914 05-29-2014 05:42 PM

I pay much less for my '00 S than for my '12 Soul...

papasmurf 05-29-2014 06:48 PM

I may need to get some new quotes then...

I pay right at $500 every six months on my 2000 base (full coverage) and a 96 nissan hardbody pickup (liability only). I have a perfect driving record and no tickets ever and am 33. I have Geico insurance. I do carry the higher $300k limits but I think my deductible is $1500 too.

Ebell914 05-30-2014 02:50 AM

Shoot, I pay around $270 every six months with $300k liability and $0 deductible full coverage on the Box - and that is with one at-fault accident (hit a Merc S500 with the Soul last summer  ) I LOVE North Carolina insurance rates!!

BIGJake111 06-06-2014 12:56 PM

Just had an S quoted to find out, turns out it would be 8 more dollars for every 6 months haha

I just moved back home to FL after being in NC since 96, major sticker shock on car insurance down here. Crazy...

paintboy 06-07-2014 08:05 AM

My Boxster is on my insurance policy as a "pleasure" vehicle, driven less than 6500 per year. 12 months full coverage on my policy that has two other cars and my homeowners is $297.00 .
