Help - does my air intake tube look right? Can't reassemble it

I'm replacing the cold air intake on my 1998 Boxster with a stock airbox. It was a difficult job, but I got the stock airbox in place. For anyone who hasn't done this, it is a lot of work involving removing the left side air intake manifold.

Anyway,I stupidly didn't think to check if the air tube fit the output of the stock airbox, and you guess it, it doesn't. I'm NOT going to remove the stock airbox - I've got to find a way to make this work.

I can't tell, but it looks like the PO cut off part of the intake tube when he installed the cold air intake. The end of the intake tube is just about the same size as the output of the air box, and I can't get the tube to slide over the airbox.

Here is the end of the tube:

Here is the airbox:

This is the intake tube part number:

Is there maybe a rubber gasket missing, or did the tube used to have a wider end?

Thanks for any help. If I can't connect this, I can't drive my Boxster

Nevermind - it went on! Just needed some lube.. and a lot of force :)

Sorry for the panic!
