Some might say wait until the market crashes again and these surging prices on air-cooled prices will come back down again. Unless like in stocks you abide by the "no this time is different" rule.
But long-term, I think the 964 will be higher valued than the 993 since it's the last Carrera with the classic 911 high fender/round lights. I think it's the best combination of old 911 without losing too much feedback from incorporating new technology. Sorta like the sharpest of the analog... although it had a lower COD than the 993 so it wasn't that analog. Porsche really stepped up in the engineering department with the 964.

I've been shopping for a used Boxster (my 2nd - first was a 98 / which I sold in 2012) and have driven quite a few - S and non S - and decided that I will buy only the S version - also...2009's appear to relatively hard to find vs earlier years.

Any sports car is nearly impossible to find in 08 and 09 years.
