Killer deal on a nice 2001 S

2001 Porsche Boxster S, $8,900 - Cars.com

Somebody here should buy this car. Great example of a high mileage boxster that's been pampered. It even has leather-clad HVAC vents from the factory!

My car was totaled by someone else...I need a replacement and I call dibs haha! I kid though, it is a bit far away and i have some nice cars im looking at in my area, hope it goes to a good home.

Are you there Big Jake?

Jack, just start your new Boxster ownership with a lengthy road trip home. You're young, and you've got all summer to enjoy it.

Haha it is very very tempting, still waiting on the insurance settlement though haha! Where is that car anyways, texas? Honestly for that price it is worth considering shipping.

Before you make the drive find out why the door sill plates are not "S" model.

I always do the front bumper check, it's crazy the number of cars with dual exhuast and an s badge on eBay that lack a third air intake haha.

The aero kit is interesting...but it's a Tip. :(

Aftermarket carbon fiber that did not have the S logo? That is my guess from being to tired to decode to the VIN.

Looks like oem in the pic.

BIGJake111 05-19-2014 04:46 PM

Is the S tip a six speed, because if so this car is an impostor as it has 5 gears.

Wilson01S 05-19-2014 05:47 PM

I just ran a carfax. Car is an actual S. 3 previous owners. No accidents reported.

New engine at 57K, means that this engine has less miles than a 100K car on the original engine. Minneapolis? Not too far for a road trip :)

gottspd 05-19-2014 06:11 PM

Sorry guys but this one is likely mine! I've been talking to the seller for a while now and it's going in for a ppi later this week and if all goes well, it'll be mine very soon.

Looks good, tell me how the aero kit is in person, I'm looking at a local car with the same factory aero kit

I wonder if the average second-hand Boxster buyer wants a stick shift or pefers the auto.

This car is okay. It's missing some expensive mods like the Litronics, 18" wheels.
I'm not sure that the 996 bumper is a selling point. And of course you need to want a tip.

Meat Head 05-20-2014 03:29 AM

Looks like a good deal but that color of blue is not for me. I would always rather spend a few extra thousand and get a low mileage car. Lots of expensive things other than an engine start giving out after 100k.

RandallNeighbour 05-20-2014 04:05 AM

I'd buy this car. I'm tired of rowing through gears on the track and especially in traffic and I would drive my box more if it had more power and an auto tranny. I'm getting old I guess.

papasmurf 05-20-2014 04:11 AM

For the original sticker being over $77k

It seems like it is missing some options I would have surely thought it would have (18" wheels, litronics, etc.) Those wheels are off a bit later model it looks like (?) and I have to agree that the auto kills it for me. The newish engine is nice but that is still a lot of miles on the chassis if everything is still original. I do like the color though!

healthservices 05-20-2014 08:52 AM

Tip is actually not bad once you driven one. My current ride is a tip and I like it. The past 4 were all manual.

Besides Jake has all the parts to convert to manual!
