Oh well, I am back..... You were right folks! New ride!

September 2013, traded my '04 S for an A4.

We still had our '08 Cayenne S but traded today for a brand new Boxster!

Ask away if you have questions :)

Welcome back! Nice white highlights on the interior.

Boy were you lucky to trade in the Audi while it was worth something! We had an A4 that had all kinds of electrical problems, including randomly dying when starting out as stop lights turned green. Good recipe for getting rear-ended. Neither independent shops nor Audi dealers could diagnose the cause. We traded it in on a newer A4. The dealer in Idaho Falls (1 1/2 hours away) delivered it; nice of them. 5 minutes after they left, I saw smoke coming out from under the hood (it was parked with the engine off). The whole engine compartment was on fire. I called him and said I'd changed my mind. He gave me back my check and had it towed. Traded the old one for a BMW 325 XI. Wonderful car! No more Audis for us!

When are you going to change your signature ?

NO brainer

Welcome back. I used to have an 2001 S-4 and the driving aspects can not come even close to the Boxster. I have to acknowledge that the cost factors are for the Porsche ridiculously expensive and for the Audi ludicrously expensive. Assessing both candidates what would you rather have with the top down and driving in a windy road? How do you compare the new Boxster versus your 2004 model??

seems to be a vw issue, sister had a bug that would commonly do that.

And great car OP! I second the comparison between it and the 04.

AndyA6 05-17-2014 04:02 PM

Sorry guys!

Maybe I was not clear enough, still have my A4, we traded the Cayenne for the Boxster.

The new Boxster is a dream to drive. Handling and power are comparable to the old one but everything is just tighter and more precise.

Surprisingly the power of the base Boxster is almost as good as the old "S". A little less torque down low and a little less oomph up top but still very satisfying and super smooth!

Timco 05-17-2014 04:04 PM

Nobody, least of all me, wants to see that crap. Post more pics, why dontcha!! Makes me want to puke. I would never swap my 04 for that given wife approval................

And for hell's sakes. Do we really need to ask about details like engine size, HP, wheel size, weight, and all that unimportant stuff specifically???

And I believe the new S pdk has very similar performance figures to a 965 turbo

Timco 05-17-2014 04:34 PM

Oh, and may I ask $? Did Porsche take anything off at all ?

thstone 05-17-2014 04:48 PM

Welcome back! Interested in hearing how you chose a 981. What other cars did you consider or test drive and how did they compare? Did you consider a 911 (any model)?

:)

Ok, we got a good price for the Cayenne and a nice discount on the new car. Difference financed with 1.8%. Entire transaction took less than an hour.

We looked at an Audi S5 cabrio and at used 911 cabrio as alternatives. S5 is for sure a nice ride and a 911 is of course nice as well. But overall the Boxster is a great value and hard to beat.
The fun to drive factor was finally the deciding factor, like the prior generations!

What is kind of nice is that the dealer has a "red carpet" program. What it does is they refill, check everything, no charge whenever you come in. Door ding, will be fixed, no charge. Once a year even new wiper blades and all that, all free of charge. They actually reduce the sales person commission by $450 to cover the cost.

You weren't at Strong, today, at about 11am, were you?

recycledsixtie 05-18-2014 02:05 AM

AndyA6 I am totally in agreement with what you have done except I would not want to put out the big $$$ for something new. I get tired of the weird noises and mechanical issues in my 2001 Box base. Good on you. I think it is great you have a warranty and it costs nothing to do anything on your new car for a few years.

Cheers,Guy.

Gosh I'm so tired to wait. Mine is due june 27. Congrats on your new 981. What option you have?

Chris

Congratulations as the colors look fantastic. Looks like someone may be suffering from permagrin after picking this ride up!

More pictures of the whole thing would be awesome!

AndyA6 05-18-2014 07:09 AM

Cfos, that was us on Saturday. Have you been there for the PCA event?

More pics to come, need to drive more first.... :)

Permagrin installed for now, anybody knows how to get rid of it??

Options:-

Agate grey
Leather package
PDK, yeah, I know, traded the man card but man is this gearbox fun! At least the A4 is 6mt...
Color center caps
Crests in headrests
Xenon with PDL
Park assist f/r
MF steering wheel
Convenience and infotainment packages

cfos 05-18-2014 07:21 AM

Yeah, the pca event was just up the street, but I stopped at the dealer first. Think I parked behind "your" cayenne. I had seen your new car (online) at Strong -- thought the interior was neat. They took their pics down today.

Was a fun event. Some quick pics from the first checkpoint -- in all I think there were 25+ cars at the rally.:

The red carpet is impressive. Would love the window chip and paintless dent. I don't winter drive mine anymore, but the tire storage could be $150 or so in storage costs/year -- would have liked that when I did daily drive the others.

The 356 was pretty nice.
