looking at 99 automatic

99 auto with 126k,being sold by local porsche indy shop for 10800(they have an excellent rep).at 122k they did ims,rms sway bar links, rebuilt trans, oil filler pipes?.they have a ppi.is this mileage way too high, price certainly seems too high.what do you think.?didnt know auto trans fail.

Wow... If I could get $10.8k for my 99, I might sell it today.
Auto, 126k = < $8k IMO. The maintenance items don't change the value of the car.

To me it's seems the prior owner made poor investment decisions (e.g. too much on a high mileage car) and now wants to pass that cost on. It's still a car with high miles and many faliure modes not addressed, e.g. the ones that can't really be addressed. You should be able to find one with around 80K miles that has had many of the major service items addressed (IMS, water pump, collant tank, AOS, etc...) for at or lower than that price....pass...

yes,thats what i thought ,thanks

As others have said, $10,800 is WAY too high. Should be more like $8K. Or $7K.

If you really want this car, offer $6,500 and make the seller work his arse off to get you any higher. Remind him that the water pump, thermostat, coolant reservoir, coolant, shocks, upper shock mounts, lower control arms, etc... are all likely to be in need of near-term replacement after you buy the car. OR say that you'll pay the $10,800 if he agrees to replace all of the above items. When all is said and done, you should be able to drive it out of there for $7,500.

That price sounds way too high for the mileage but the ims and such being done can justify it to an extent, if you are a gambler i would buy a cheaper identical car without the service done for 8 to 9k
