Cayman GT4 - is it coming
I sure hope so. It would certainly be an awesome track weapon and if it really happens I would love to see it offered with a manual in addition to a PDK.
Breaking News: Porsche Planning A 911 GT3 Style Cayman GT4 |
Would be a great car! I could really see Porsche pushing this car out as a send off to the 981 come to be restyle time. I am kind of hoping their is a 912 style car in the works, there has been mention of a baby panamera, and if one comes about i would love if it was a bit of a mix of 928 and the 912!

so.... Porsche soon to have more vehicle models than both Toyota and Honda models combined?

A Boxster GT4 would be quicker. Lower center of gravity, same power, same proportions, perhaps less weight if they went with another bikini top. Other than track regulations demanding a fixed roof, a Boxster would always have the upper hand on turn in which makes me wonder why people get more excited about 981 with a fixed roof getting the big power. But at the end of the day Cayman and Boxster are merely variants of the same car.
However either at $125K might be tough sell if it parks next to a C7 Z06 (with all the track goodies already addded) or worse, has to give it the point by. And I'm not in the market but 996 Cup car can be had for that kind of money as well. http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/lv2F1slIyWw/maxresdefault.jpg |
It makes perfect sense otherwise the "aftermarket" will beat them to the punch en-mass.

This is just nit-picky, but the name, "GT4" still punks us as the lesser car. GT4 is at best an amateur racing series. Why couldn't they have gone with "GS" in a nod to the Conti Challenge series??

Or perhaps Cayman RS?
