custom 986 Tubi exhaust replica idea??

I really like the Tubi sound and kind of disappointed they don't make one for the 986. So sitting around bored, I came to the idea of maybe trying to replicate the exhaust without having to spend the money to try and retrofit the 987 Tubi system for the 986.

Has anyone ever tried or heard of anyone trying to attempt this? Any ideas or input?

here's a quick sketch I did based on the 987 tubi system

For now I'm thinking about using Gibson mufflers since they're not too expensive and they don't give that low throaty tone like most mufflers. Only thing I'm still kind of debating is what size piping I should use for the outlets of the muffler, whether to go bigger/smaller/same size.

I'll definitely post pics and some clips as soon as I get everything in and get started.

I've been looking at tips and mufflers since I saw your original post! I would keep the pipes around the same size. Let me know when you get anywhere with this.. I've got a lift a welder to make installation and fabrication easier!!

Just waiting on the mailman to bring me some presents. I decided to go with Gibson dual outlet mufflers(2" inlet and outlets) and I also bought used muffler tips off a 987 to save myself some time. Depending on the mufflers distance apart I can cut or extend the 987 tips. I'll post some pics up when I get it started.

2" is to big for a 2.5 Litre. I would use 1.75".
