Looks Great!

I'm sorry but the US "bumperettes" are not great... especially in the standard black plastic finish - I much prefer the naked ROW version!
Are there any other countries in the world that has them?

heliguy 04-16-2014 02:09 AM

You will be happy to have them when some US driver rear ends you.

amagalla 04-16-2014 02:34 AM

I like that they save lives and limit damage. But, if you like your death blows to be swift and undefended, then good for you.

This gave me a good laugh!

I removed mine and replaced them with this ABS piece.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1397654638.jpg

I deleted mine and they are just sitting on a shelf, so if anyone would like to add some more protection against swift death blows, you can have them. Maybe add them to the front? Perhaps a set for the doors? Maybe get several and make a helmet?

I can't imagine driving without big bumper pads- my safety is number one! I'm trying to find a way to put a few more around the sides and top. Can't be too safe.:barf:

And without them the car looks incredibly stupid since there is an obvious spot for them in the gaping hole left in your bumper.

:p

True on US cars but ROW cars have longer number plates generally so no gaping spot ;)

But for US cars they look so much better colour coded :D

The standard black bumperettes indeed are UGLY...I think it makes such a difference once they are painted to match. Since I have to keep them on, I might as well make them look good.

Sooooo much better looking ;)

jmatta 04-16-2014 02:44 PM

Or just buy a black car :D

Those do look good painted on the blue car...

Steve Tinker 04-16-2014 02:50 PM

^^^^ That looks heaps better on the blue & black Boxsters ^^^^^

Not as good as ROW but not bad - you hardly notice them when painted body colour. The black bumperettes are similar to el-cheapo cars having "fits all" matt black door handles & external mirrors.
Why couldn't the mother ship do the colour coding at the factory??

jmatta 04-16-2014 05:29 PM

Cost cutting SOBs in the front office...same as the IMSB problems to save a buck or two. Now you pay seventy thousand for a Box...I'll buy a lightly used MkI GT3 at these prices.

Perfectlap 04-16-2014 07:41 PM

I can't believe there isn't just a snap on cover for these bumperettes. Why deal with removal and core return and all that biz...

hijack -- This will be my look in a few weeks (but with smoked tail lights). I've been sitting on this for over a year waiting to install...
I don't think my Fabspeed tips quiet line up dead center though, might be an issue..

My stupid flaming death trap:

I cant see how a couple of pieces of rubber are going to make any difference to crash protection on a modern car like the Boxster with crumple zones etc. European crash testing is very strict and are not seen as any benefit in ROW cars - just fitted to satisfy some US regulation and could perhaps make the car deform in an adverse way.
