986 performance exhaust

Hi All,

Any recommendations on the performance exhaust for the 986? I don't want to spend a bundle, and would like a deep sound without major droning at highway speeds.
Thank you

Drone is something that you will have to deal with unfortunately. As far as cheap there are the ebay mufflers that everyone likes. You could get Factory PSE but they are hard to find. Fabspeed makes great stuff. I would recommend changing the headers and getting a set of high flow cats. You only need one set of cats so get get catless headers. The stock muffler is the best with no drone. Anything else I have tried drones. Good luck with your search, there are not many options that are cheaper.

Jaay knows what he's talking about. I have a chinese twin-chamber muffler on my car ($300) and bigger headers ($150???) with factory cats and it sounds glorious, but there is cabin resonance (drone) between 2200k and 3000k rpms.

Not a problem on the freeway. I drive a little faster and stay out of this range.

However, when I am forced to drive the car with the top up in traffic (when it's raining for instance) the cabin resonance is deafening.

More expensive twin-chamber systems are also drone-prone.

Are you replacing it for need or because you want to tinker with the car?

If for tinkering, I would spend the money elsewhere first.

I have the FDM (FD Motorsport) muffler. Great sound and no drone;

Are there any options out there that are not duals?

No need, just want to hear the sound of the beautiful engine. I had Borla on Saab 9-3 SE and loved the sound.
