lateral play in accelerator pedal

it has a lot of lateral play -

took car in today for a service and discussed this. It's something they have seen many times before.
I got a long description of loops of plastic here and plastic there that can snap, eventually the pedal can fail.

Porsche don't sell the parts that break as individual units, so you have to buy a whole new pedal unit.

One suggestion was to look into buying a sports pedal, and using that, or scavenge for the part.

(BTW, not sure if all are like this, but mine has the electronic pedal - fly by wire!)

Anyone have experience of this problem, and care to chip in with thoughts or solutions? (other than buying a whole new pedal!)

There are replacement pedal units from Rennline & GSR.
Not cheap.
