Factory Alarm

So I understand that the alarm only chirps the horn when locking if there is a "fault". i.e. door not closed etc... However, I would like to have some sort of auditory feedback that lets me know that I have successfully armed or disarmed the alarm. the aftermarket alarm on my pathfinder does this. 1 chirp for armed, 2 for disarmed, 3 for fault (door not closed etc...). My Mercedes also does this with the factory alarm.

my first thought is to wire an alarm horn into the parking lights that flash when arming or disarming. Has anyone done this or have another solution?

Mine chirps once at locking and twice on unlocking. If it chirps twice at locking then you know something isn't right.

more research revealed that:
1. I'm a moron for thinking of wiring a horn into the lights. luckily I figured that out before I was making a left turn and the horn was going off.
2. apparently the the alarm is programable to chirp or not chirp. I think it has to be done by the dealer or at least someone with a Durametric tool.

I'm not sure that's the case. In any event, a simple "solution" would be to leave the console bin unlatched.

My horn chirps once when I lock the car. I like this because I always know when it's locked. Then I found out it's not supposed to do that. Turns out the wire sensing whether or not the center console door is locked isn't connected. I left it that way and I'm happy .
