H6W Bulb Replacement
What do you guys use for H6W bulb (parking light) right below the HID/Xenon/Litronic bulb? A lot of the LED options seem to be oversized so they most likely won't fit through the tube.
Just paid $19 for one at the dealer, that's $1.80 saved with PCA discount! :ah: |
I installed Phillips Blue Vision
H6W Philips Blue Vision Sidelights (pair) |
Ive just installed these on mine
Side Light High Power Bulb. SMD LED H6W - 99963114090LED, Porsche | Design 911 They fitted fine & give the light a much better look complementing the litornics from this:http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1397288005.jpg to this: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1397288033.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1397288056.jpg & yes still have the amber to remove from the headlight! |
Blinkman - that looks good, big difference.
How does it look in the dark, is it more bluish than the litronic bulb? Im looking for a very crisp white bulb. |
Blankman:
They look good, but these bulbs are $25 and they want $25 for shipping to Canada... ! |

39$ to ship tiny dashboard bulbs to Canada... |
I just went through this a few months ago and couldn't believe how hard it was to source a local bulb!
I ended up with a bulb from NAPA...$10! Highway robbery for a parking bulb but a real bargain for a H6W! |
Hi,
My passenger side lower headlight bulb went out yesterday, and I'd like to replace them both with these. Does anyone know the part number, and a source in the US? Quote:

Is there any other purpose for those parking lamps besides being a parking lamp which I never use? First one side went out on mine, so I just left it, and a month or so later, the other side went out, so I just left it as well. Lol. Looks fine, and I don't need no stinkin parking lights. :)

Lucky you ;)
I've been denied inspection stickers for them being out. Inspectors check every single exterior light here. |
I like to use the parking lights in the daytime. Does anyone know of a US source for these? My indy shop doesn't know where to find them.
This is the part code from the site in the UK. I don't know if that corresponds to a part number. SIDE LIGHT HIGH POWER BULB. SMD LED H6W Code: 99963114090LED |

Keep in mind that the H6W is for Litronics only. If you have halogens, they use a different bulb type for the parking lamp.

Porsche thinks they're so important as to provide multiple ways to turn them on--both, left only, right only. |
Now I'm not sure if mine are Litronic or Xenon.. I thought the option available in 2004 was Bi-Xenon? Here's a shot of my (smashed in parking lot) headlight:http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1446834998.jpg

"Xenon" is a type of bulb. Litronics use xenon bulbs for the low beams. Standard 986 headlights use halogen bulbs for both the low and high beams. Porsche never made a bi-xenon headlight for the 986, only xenon or halogen.
Lits only have xenon low beams and use halogen for the high beams, so technically Litronics are a xenon/halogen hybrid. You have Litronics. |
Thank you!

Actually, "bizenon" is more a marketing concept and the litronics could easily fit the definition.
HID burners are not good for high beams because of their delay in coming to full brightness. Mercedes, for one example, used the bizenon term to describe a process where a moveable metal shield adjusted between high and low positions to provide both beams from the same bulb/burner. In litronic, a halogen bulb comes on to provide a quick high beam but also the level of the low beam hid projector is mechanically adjusted higher to supplement. It's obviously not as instantaneous as the halogen bulb. Pretty much the same result as bizenon. |
