The Jägermobile broke on the way to lunch today… Guess what happened?

Washer fluid leak?

Nope, it's full of washer fluid.

Fuel or Water pump?

Nope... But good guess.

Headlight fluid then :troll: :p

Broken half shaft?

Nope... Not a good guess.

Hint: There was a pool of oil under the motor on the Drivers side when off-loaded from the tow truck.

Rock hit your oil filter housing

You are correct... AOS... It will be my third AOS. I already removed it and ordered another one. I will probably install next weekend. Why can't Porsche improve this part??

Is the flatbed voluntary or mandatory?

Wouldve been my first guess if it wasnt for you having replaces so many times before, i am assuming mine is on its original, and has 106k miles... time to look into some preventive m.

Now that I think of it... I replaced the AOS three times so this makes it number four for this Boxster.

What path did the oil take to end up under the left side of the engine?

Through the induction system over to the Air Box below the air filter... There is a drain at the bottom of the Air Box.

Are there indications you can think back on that may have been due to the AOS failing?

So when the AOS fails, does the car become un-driveable or in this case it was the oil leakage that scared you?

I was going to guess you lost one of your tire's valve stem caps

What in the world would cause your AOS to fail 4 times? Seems like maybe it's a symptom of a root cause problem that hasn't been addressed.

Operating environment being near sea level doesn't help as atmospheric pressures are greatest there and pout more load on the AOS internals.

I find that extended oil service intervals lead to this more than anything as acids in the oil reach levels that create diaphragm degradation within the AOS.
