Hardtop cover plate

Just bought one of these from Suncoast for $30. Not cheap for a piece of plastic but it is Porsche and better then the $70 my local dealer wanted plus a 4 week wait. Suncoast mentioned these are becoming a little harder to get as even they took a week. Reading the factory sticker on this part it appears to have been made in April of 2008. If you have a hardtop and missing this piece you may want to buy one now. One question I have is about how durable this part is. It seems that you will inevitably break the inserts.

I bought three a few years ago, because the clips on my original one started to go.

For future reference, check the part catalogue and do a search via the part number. Suncoast makes finding the part easy, but if you have the PN you can buy most things 20% less than Suncoast at places like ECS Tuning or Sunset Porsche.

Edit:
For example, 30% less: http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/9865635510/ES1471135/

Thanks for the heads up about ECS tuning. Forgot all about them and would have assumed they would not carry this item.

I only discovered them recently and they seem to stock all the Porsche parts, but you have to search the PN with no dashes or periods between the numbers. They seem to have the best price on most things I have searched.

Haha, I need that part but always find it a very hight price. Now ECS have it cheap, 17$, but shipping is 33$!! I hate living in Canada and having all the specialty store in USA.

Later all

I would double check the shipping with them. I emailed them because a few random bolts caused an $80 jump in the shipping on my order, they said if they have never shipped something before, the computer automatically assumes the highest shipping charge possible. Might be worth double checking.

When I installed mine I put a little touch of silicone spray on the posts to make sure I didn't break one when installing or removing the plate. It goes on and off quite easily and if treated carefully, it should not break.

Pellican parts has it for $19.75.
