Window goes down but not up

Hi, I just bought a 2006 Boxster S and it is great.

The only thing I see is that the drivers window goes down when you open it but doesn't go back up when you close the door.

The passenger side works perfectly.

What do you imagine it is ?

Thanks
Terry

There are really only two items that can croak in the window movement....the regulator and the motor. Both, unfortunately, not cheap. Go to Pelikan and do some hunting.

You can DIY or my mother-in-law recently had a new regulator put in for around $700 from a local independent. Local Dealer wanted a couple hundred more.

TerryT, let us know how you solve your problem. I have an intermittent issue on my 2003 passenger aside. Window works fine but auto drop doesn't work? The up motion will work if I manually put the window down just a bit.
Thanks and good luck.

It could also be micro switch. There are a couple that are activated by the door latch that tell the window to go down. Don't know the details but a search will get you he info.

Thank you, I will look into that... but it might turn out that I will need to grab a fist full of hundreds and throw it at the car.

I saw this earlier... seems worth a try.... will post any updates.

Ok, I wanted to post this as a positive fix so others don't end up replacing a bunch of parts. My driver's side window dropped but wouldn't go back up, I removed the door cover and checked the regulator and switches, I even replaced the door latch but the final fix was the window motor....not the regulator, only the motor. I think it was due to jumping the car after the battery died, this may have damaged the window motor's control board. The motor worked fine it was just not hiking it up the last 1/4 of an inch after the door was closed. The new motor fixed it.
