Preventative maintenance thread..

Based on your personal experience, what should every Boxster owner go out and do this week or even today?

My input is to simply take the cover off your front & rear trunk latch and check the cable connections for fraying. Big hassle if one breaks. Easy to fix.

Go out and drive... like, really drive it!
For at least an hour

As preventive maintenance, I think it is best to be safe and replace the car every 5 years with a new one...

There are a few items that have been redesigned due to issues with the original design, these things are worth checking:

-Make sure Coolant cap is newest design, PN 996.106.447.00
-Check Gas Cap for cracks on the o-ring
-Check Convertible Ball End Joints, if red replace with newer ones (not metal ones)
-Check Convertible Transmission Cables for stretching and replace with newer ones (mostly 97-99)

Some other things:
-Clean Drains, especial behind the driver's seat. Clogged drains can cause water to get under the driver's seat which can make the very expensive computer there fail.
-Clean the Throttle Body
-Reroute the frunk release cable to the tow opening (or elsewhere if you are savvy)
-Clean your radiators (requires removing the front bumper)

Cleaned the radiators last weekend. Put a new radiator cap on this morning. Took it for a 2 hour drive with the top down on a twisty road in VA. Preventive maintenance done for me and the car.

Replace the trunk shocks and wiper blades!
