2002 Litronics question

Hi all,

I am thinking to buy a set of used Litronics and came a cross to a seller that willing to sell used set for 600 include shipping. I know that is a good price but headlights (specially left one) are little hazy and I wonder how hard is to polish it?
And the second question is that the headlights are from car with headlight washers but mine is without washer, I think the only difference is the corner trim,am I right?
Thanks advance.

I've concluded the similar look to my 2001 units is "crazing" and can't be polished out as it's internal to the plastic.

Love to hear differently.

From the little bit of research I have done there is a clear coat/finish applied by Porsche that is a UV protectant. My guess is that is what is failing in the pic. If that is correct then yes it can be sanded/buffed out to be clear again.

lkchris and rfuerst911sc thanks for respond, went a head and ordered it already, should have it by the end of week. I'm thinking to buff it with a little Ryobi power buffer that got from home depot while ago.I did it once on my Honda accord and it helped a lot, not 100% recovery but I would say about 70% recovered without sanding. I'm bit afraid of sanding but if buff will not work will try sand then buff. For that price I guess I got a good deal.
Thanks.

Yes, that's surface damage and pitting...easily repairable by any reputable shop or skilled DIYer. That looks like it will come out with a buffer and some polishing compound.

particlewave, I think so, hope it will come out easy.

I would definitely start with a good wax and careful buffing. I'm guessing that you'll get some pretty good results with that.

Don't use polishing compound unless you have the ability to re-apply a uv coating. It can be a little aggressive if you're not careful. ;)
