Headlight and directional signal not functional

Greetings,

I just purchased my first 2001 Porsche Boxster S last month. The car is a joy to drive, however the passenger side headlight has blown twice; and the directional signal on the same side has also blown.

The headlight was replaced and it was functional for about 5 hours of drive-time. I replaced the directional signal (with two separate bulbs) and I have not observed it function since it went out a few weeks after I purchased the vehicle.

I used a small amount of bulb grease when replacing the bulbs, and validated that the bulbs matched the driver side as well. I checked the fuses and they are also good.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?

I am in Charlotte, NC and looking for assistance.

Please advise,

Thomas

Did you touch the glass of the bulbs with your bare hands when installing them? Dirt and/or oil from your hands can make the bulb burn-out prematurely.

Unfortunately no. I was wearing rubber gloves when I replaced it. I am more stumped by the directional signal. I've worked on my own American vehicles for years and never encountered this problem.

Gremlins are rare, bad luck isn't. I'd do the bulb replacement dance again with scrupulous attention to cleanliness. Three's the charm.:D
