Side stripe, Yay or nay

Nine8Six Photoshopped a stripe onto a photo of my car, what's the consensus?

Leave the stripe. Lose the skirts and that spoiler.

dghii 12-10-2013 11:16 AM

Nay. Don't two more badges on the car.

thstone 12-10-2013 11:18 AM

I like the stripe. Adds visual interest to the otherwise plain jane sides of the car.

Meat Head 12-10-2013 11:23 AM

No stripe!

Perfectlap 12-10-2013 11:30 AM

For $80? No brainer....

It looks 1000% better in person than in photos. The 996/986 slab sides really benefit from graphics. Curvier cars like the 993/964 not as big an improvement but still look nice with Porsche lettering.
I also added the Cayman R piece to the front bumper to tie both ends together. Although I should have pointed that piece downward to compensate for the fact that the 996 GT3 bumper curves inward.

Personally, I would stick yours on a little lower thatn in that photoshop, so that its right on the edge of the side skirt. Right now it looks a little high if you're going to have skirting.

P.s.
Since these pics were taken I added smoked LED tailights and had my Carrera five spokes painted in a custom BMW Shadow finish, it's like gun metal flake color. I use these 997 Turbo replicas for my winter tires. I also have the GT3tek Boxster Spyder rear buper cover but have been too lazy to get it painted.

2 to 2...Need tie breakers. And the spoiler retracts.

runjmc2 12-10-2013 11:41 AM

Yes, stripe, for looks...

Mark_T 12-10-2013 11:42 AM

I like the stripe on your car. I also think the skirt looks good and your custom intake vents are kickass.

joejitsumd 12-10-2013 11:42 AM

Don't like

heliguy 12-10-2013 11:42 AM

For looks? No performance gain??

RandallNeighbour 12-10-2013 11:47 AM

Yes to stripe. Sets your car apart from the 100k+ silver boxsters out there.

100,000 is my estimate of boxsters of the silver color, not their mileage or value :)

particlewave 12-10-2013 11:47 AM

Yes, stripes. Look at Perfectlap's car...enough said
Adds 10+ hp, too ;)

The same 5 users always say no to everything but boring, plain Jane stock :p :D

Perfectlap 12-10-2013 11:59 AM

^ I got about 10X's more comments starting from the weekend I added the stripes. A month later I swapped in the replica 997 wheels for winter and my neighbohr who'd been away came out to ask if I had traded in for a new car. LOL.

Lots of examples of "less is more" around. Or, "too much of a good thing."
Silver has to be the easiest color to keep looking good.
Nothing shows the shine like black, but damn, I've better things to do than frequently washing a car.

I've had a black sports car before...it looks good for 20 minutes after the wash, never again.

No stripe.
I like to keep people guessing. ;)

True, I was washing the Silver Bullet last week and a guy walking his dog asked "Nice car, is that a Fiat?"

RawleyD 12-10-2013 12:52 PM

Haha, I always call Fiats "Firts".

drew44 12-10-2013 12:55 PM

Yes to the stripe ...I really like the look it gives, although there are those that say it looks tacky but I would disagree!!
