Took the cheap way out. What do you think?
I work at a body shop and had one of my painters "tint" the orange out of my headlights. Essentially what he did was paint over the orange with black paint and put 2 coats of clear on them and then baked them for 30 mins. Popped them back in and my orange is gone! You can still see turn signals through them so it worked out nicely. Sorry for poor quality picture, it was taken with my cell phone.

Definitely the cheap way out, I'm not a big fan of that look as it takes away from the attractive curve and lines of the headlight.

not to put too fine a point on it, but :barf:

I don't have to worry about state inspections. Only have to get inspections at original purchase.

Sort of looks like a high water mark after the flood water receded.:ah:

use a matte vinyl tint instead. I too painted my front signals, and soon after used acetone to take the paint off and wrapped them instead. Acetone doesn't cloud the clear plastic ;) |
Personally, it seems like someone gave your boxster two black eyes.

Really no need...amber is darn sexy on black IMO ;)
Just install projectors and the front end will look much more modern. :) |
Sorry. Doesn't go with the lines of the front end.
|
epapp - where did you get the matte vinyl?
|
Kills the look of the front end all together, looks like something took a bite out of the front end now.

Sorry, can't say I'm a fan. Then again, it's your car so do what you like best. :)
|
Not for me.

You need a heat gun or hair dryer, and some patience, but it continues to look great through rain, cold and hot Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Thanks you for the link.

I would order headlamps now. Can't say I care for it. Thanks for trying, I had thought about it on mine, decided not to. This confirms why.

Thought this was interesting. This guy did the same to his headlights. No one said anything bad about the way it looked here. Not that I care. Everyone has there own opinion but just thought it was funny how one thread had no one mentioning poor headlight tint and then my thread had no love.
http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/44939-purschased-my-first-black-1998-boxster-australia.html I think maybe the lighting may be bad in my pic because in regular day light my headlights look identical to his. |
