Brake creaking...
I just started driving the box after a very busy 2 months. It's running well, but I noticed something new... If I really put my foot into the brake pedal at a stop light, well beyond what's needed to stop the car, I hear the calipers/pads creaking. It's loud too.
Not low on brake fluid, BTW. I checked that. Ideas? Has anyone experienced this? |
I don't understand this word "creaking". Squeal like a school bus? This I understand. Grinding like metal on metal? This I also understand.
How do your pads look? |
could it be the pedal arm ? Maybe it's cracked or seizing???
|
Creaks like a rocking chair with a stressed wood leg...
I'm hearing the noise at the calipers, both sides. Pads look good. Hmmmm. |
I like to bed mine now then, it helps. My best guess is the anti squeal shims are causing the problem. How many miles on the rotors?
Also a air bubble in the brakes line can cause a pulsing effect. |
I bet there's only 2500 miles on the rotors... But two DE's as well...
|
Sounds more like stress on some other suspension or steering component that stiffened up. Parts bolted together solid now moving or flexing a bit? Struts?

JCB, In the summer of 2011 when the car had 110k miles on it, I replaced the rotors and pads and thoroughly cleaned the rotors and even rebuilt one of the fronts with new seals. Now I have 114,500 miles on the car.
That's what makes this so odd to me. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and figured out what caused it. |
