Boxster / Cayman engine/tranny swap

So....has anyone (successfully) performed an engine/tranny swap between an '08 Cayman Base and a '02 Boxster S? Is this possible? If 'possible' is it insanely difficult or a relative snap to do. (Note...I did say 'relative'.)

I think Jaay on the forum did a Cayman 5 speed swap with his 3.4/6 engine. What is your goal?

you'll need a 2003+ DME to make that engine work. To install the new DME, you'll have to replace the ABS brain, rear brake lines, and HVAC controller, possibly more. Better off to start with a newer car.

I believe you will need a 2007-08 DME the 2008 has the dual lobe Varrio + cam set. The 2003 only has single lobe variable Cams. DME, Harness, Immobiliser, etc.

OK...thanks guys. I was just looking for a 'Yeah...I did that in one day with set of spanners and a hammer and no problems....'

So....yeah....no go. :-)

Cheers.

Do you want to put the 08 motor into the 02 car or vice versa?

FYI, the 03-up motors (other than 996 and Cayman S) do NOT have VarioCam Plus. They DO utilize the vane cell type cam advance of VC+, but do not have VC+.
