A couple of weeks ago I bought my first porsche - a 3 year old Boxster S - and I must say it's been fantastic fun! The noise alone would be worth the money!!

I now want to give it a proper clean to keep it looking its best (OK, I admit I'm a perfectionist!) It has the yellow seat belts, which look great, but the driver's one is now fairly dirty. Is there an easy way of returning them to the original bright colour? Is it OK to use soapy water without the colour fading or, even worse, affecting the strength of the material?

The exhaust pipes have also lost their shine - is there anything I can clean them with to restore them?

Don't know about the belts, but I just used (red) Wenol on the pipes of my '00 S with great results.

Have you tried using polish after cleaning them and then waxing it?

zymol fabrique will do wonders on the belts!

After seeing Charlie G's "shine" work on his exhaust, I used Flitz metal polish on the tailpipe of mine and it came out better looking (IMHO) than the $300 chrome thingy that Porsche sells to dress up the exhaust.

Small amounts of polish applied to a cloth buffing wheel on a Dremel-style tool and some patience was all it took. Shine still looks good, just requires a periodic touch-up due to the exhaust residue in the pipe itself.
