I hate to say this but, that is a completely wheel/tire dependent question. I have Boxster S II 17" stock rims although they are not 18" I can not put spacers on the rears with 265 tires. The front will take up to a 21MM space with 225 tires. I track 18" OZ Alleggerita HLT. 9" rears again I can't run a spacer with 275 tires. The front 8.5" I can run a 14mm spacer with 235 tires.

It's going to depend on your combination

Off track I run 1 degree front and 1/2 degree rear chamber
On track I run 1.5 -2 degree front and 1 degree rear chamber

Oh ok and I suppose I have no way to know what size buy before buying ?

He just means the offset of the wheel, the camber, and the width of the wheel and tire come into play. Even the same size of different tires will fit differently. If you have the set-up you want already, you could start by eyeballing how much further out the tires could be without hitting when going over a bump.
