Put the Cayman wheels on today. Backs fit fine. Fronts are tight but do not rub, may still add some spacers. Now I will take them the tire shop and have them rebalanced and checked.

Exactly what I had except my tires were Hankook. The tires were used too, so some of the height was worn off, but they rubbed the strut perch on the inner 3/4" of the tread.

I wonder - I have seen some aftermarket where the strut perch is higher, I wonder if mine are non-oem and a little lower.

What year is your ride. Mine is a 2000 S. I was thinking it had the M030 suspension. I wrote down the shock number and has the standard shocks. It maybe the tire aspect ratio or the sidewall is not supported enough. Mine has the Michelin Pilots. Of course the shock and springs may be different than mine.

Mine is a 2002 with 123,000 miles. It is possible they were replaced. My tires were 235/40 also. We're the part numbers obvious with the wheel off? I didn't check that.

Next time I will look better, the shock numbers were stamped on the shock, so that was pretty easy to check. My build codes do not show a suspension change. I was thinking, maybe the shock on that wheel has or is going bad. I had not quiet a 1/2" clearance from tire to strut bottom, both sides, a 1/4" from backside of tire to strut. Car was on the ground when I checked it.
