Stone Gray Metallic from 1985 944.
White & Black Though really, these are cars that look good in almost any color, which can't be said for a lot of cars. |

What do you think my favorite Boxster color is? It's boring but I am an old man so it suits me.

I enjoy seeing the photos. Never really been a fan of silver, but that Grey Silver is very classy.
What I really love about this thread are those photos of the special edition brown interior and those red interiors. Oh my! Good thing red wouldn't look good with Lapis Blue, otherwise I would be looking to convert. |
Despite owning a Rainforest Green Boxster, my favorite color is Arena/Zanzibar Red

I have to admit this color doesn't look as bad as it is. South Central Cambodia Blue?

You want to see something that looks like real crap, have a quick look at the NEW tan-metallic-mustard-skin color thingny that Porsche puts on some of their new 2013 Cayman (Boxster as well not sure). Not sure how they call this color, really really fuggly. I certainly didn't want to post this picture/color in fear to upset anyone's stomach ;)

Couldn't resist sorry. Sincere apologies to those who'v just had dinner and have a flaky stomach. Here it goes:

I think it depends on the vintage.
An early (50-60's) 911 looks good in Steve McQueen slate grey. Maybe with burnt sienna/browinsh leather interior if you're all Hollywood. My indy has a long nose 912 restoration in the shop in this slate grey color. With a patina'd leather Momo steering wheel if would be pretty awesome. The car was beat up tube socks white when it came in. The owner must have tripled his money by now. For 80's Porsches I like signal green or white. Or silver with Martini Racing stripes. The water-cooled Porsches 2000's look good in Zanzibar red, yellow and that mettalic orange Golanus posted. Just don't put a duck tail on those big cars. But this would be by far the most fun https://s-media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com...23f5767cd3.jpg parked next to this when its too rainy for the top down. http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu202/christian900se/Cars%20and%20Coffee/Cars%20and%20Coffee%207-30-11/DSC_0864_2820p.jpg |

My favorite color combination is Basalt Black Metallic with Carrera Red leather interior.

Or buy the base Boxster in Mexico Blue, ship it to the guys in Florida doing 400 HP 991 S engine swaps for about $22 and your'll have a real beast and a Carrera killer. |
There is something to be said for tradition too.
Before the days of covering race cars with sponsorship graphics cars were raced for their nationality. Italy of course was red. It would be hard for me to buy a Ferrari in any color other than Blood Red. British Racing Green for all the cars from the UK. French racers ran that light blue color that we see on a 30's Bugatti. In the U.S. Cunnigham went to Le Mans with white cars with blue stripes. And then there was Germany and the Audi Silver Arrows. Silver is the traditional color for our cars. I should also point out that different makes often had different shades. Aston Martin ran a dark shade of green that looked almost black while Lotus ran a brighter green with their yellow stripes. Today many of our racers run colors that are a sponsors color and not the color of their nation. Kind of a shame, but then if we all ran national colors all our Porsches would be silver. Boring. |
