996 Door Panels on a 986 Boxster?

Will they fit?

I want to upgrade my vinyl door panels and dash to leather since I will most likely never part with my Boxster. I'm in no hurry, so I will just monitor eBay from time to time and see if any bargains come up, do it piece by piece. There seems to be a lot more selection in 996 leather interior parts than Boxster ones, they also look a bit nicer I think.

I haven't tried so don't quote me on this. But the 986 and 996 are almost identical from the doors forward.

If I understand correctly, the outer part of the door is exactly the same. The window will be a different shape of course, although I think that is all that is different.

The inner panels however...???

I remember reading about the design of the Boxster that Porsche used the same nose and doors on the 986 and 996. If you look on eBay, you'll see lots of listings for "996 or 986 door".

You could always try to track down part numbers for both, or you could call your nearest Porsche dealer, or you could try an auto recycler, if you don't trust the conventional wisdom.

Yep, they fit just fine. I've already made the full 996/leather conversion on mine.
