Little frustrations: window regulator and alarm

My pass. side window wasn't dropping like it should so I followed some instructions here and added a threaded cable adjuster to take up some cable slack in the regulator. Adjusted it so it's not too tight. Now the window drops (not as much as the driver's side) so now the door closes properly. I disconnected the battery and did the up-down reset a few times, still a tiny drop when pulling the door handle. The pass. side is also much slower. Is the regulator just dying? Can I do anything else to remedy this?

Also, I though my remote locking wasn't working because of the window issue, but I think it's something else. When I lock the car, there is a whirring at the gas cap, the locks lock then immediately unlock, and I get a double beep. I can lock the doors with the key and also get one one-beep alarm set. With the car lock via the door, the gas door is NOT locked. Is the solenoid the locks the gas door dead and confusing the computer??

After adding the cable adjuster to my passenger window, I noticed that it rolls up and down faster than the driver's side, so as a single data point, it doesn't seem to be caused by adding the cable adjuster. My driver's side has been a little slower than the passenger side for years and hasn't gotten worse since I noticed it several years ago.
