Why would these MAF wires be spliced?
Cleaned the MAF yesterday, noticed the PO had the red and blue wires spliced. Doesn't look like they are spliced into anything anymore, but what WOULD they have been spliced into? I can't think of anything you would want to splice into the MAF wires.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1382723744.jpg

Voltage testing??
|
More likely one of those A/F "tuner boxes" used to lie to the DME about what is really going on in an attempt to eek a couple of HP out of the car.
|
Right, they are taps...splices...same thing.
I suppose it could have been something like the resistor trick...eek |

Yep that's what some tuner needs to get a spot on job done on a cheap porsche ;) Got it on my 986.... 50K POT and 50kohm resistor is all you need. Safely hiden in the cabin/console compartment.
Magic weapon lol |
haha....you mean like when I chipped my bmw? Thats totes different...a chip versus a chinsey resistor

fooling downstream vortex vibrations?? hacking your O2?? spring rates on the larger TB?? Nah?! Now that's what freedom means +525 horses minimum! Oh and Chinese Made Tires!
I was sure that you guys had it all sorted already. |

Had found something similar to that on my 2001 Boxster, where the wire had been tapped like with a voltage tester. It was so bad I had to replace the entire wiring for the MAF connector, and the only way to do that was to purchase the entire wiring loom.

Oh hang on, not too fast...
My tires are so goddamn cheap they "melt" after a good heat cycle. 100 times more sticky than Performance tires, and 100 grit :p That's how it done |
