Be honest....

How often do you close your seatbelt in the door jamb??

(Strap, not the belt)

I've not caught the belt in there but there's 5 spots at least from that.

WhipE350 10-19-2013 05:10 AM

Never that I can remember.

recycledsixtie 10-19-2013 05:13 AM

I have never caught the seatbelt/strap in the door/doorframe. There is sufficient tension to prevent this happening. It used to happen on my 99 Miata. Apparently there is a silicone spray you can buy to enhance the retraction function of the seatbelt. :)

One to many times...and you know you've done it when you get the "THUNK" sound on trying to close the door. My next thought is...crap, did I take the paint off! I have probably done it a half dozen or so times. Mostly when I am in a rush.

Never happened

That's the problem with these older cars. The retract function gets weak. I'd be interested in that spray that helps with the retraction.

Now days, I try to make it a point to hand feed the belt back into it's container when I unbuckle.

Frequently...

Joe B 10-19-2013 12:57 PM

Never. I learned the silicone spray (nothing special; any cheap stuff will work) treatment on this forum and they retract like magic! Just spray a lot of it on both sides of the belts. Works like a charm.

Nine8Six 10-19-2013 01:24 PM

Guess the spring in mine is 'like-new' then. Never happened, yet anyway

Crono0001 10-19-2013 01:33 PM

Too often, for sure.
I'm conscious of it now.

jsceash 10-19-2013 03:04 PM

Both harnesses and seatbelt no problem

Johnny Danger 10-19-2013 03:57 PM

Never happens to me.

No issues for me. Seat belt tensioner pulls it in quickly.

Last930 10-20-2013 05:15 AM

Once for just about every Porsche I've owned.

Timco 10-20-2013 06:07 AM

I'm seeing a pattern.

Need to research spraying lube down there. I have to feed mine intentionally through the seat loop.

Mark_T 10-20-2013 12:35 PM

It's never happened to me at least a dozen times.

SeanZ4 10-21-2013 07:31 AM

Never, but I have noticed it's starting to retract a little slower. I'm never in a hurry when I drive the Boxster :-)

Wret 10-21-2013 09:43 AM

I had that happen with a prior car. I was able to unwind and remove the belt and wind the retractor another couple of turns then reattach and rewind the belt.
