new boxster S owner here

I'm bouncing off the walls.. I got a Speed Yellow Boster S... wahoo!

Got Speedster humps, H&R coilovers installed and the carbon interior.. hehe

Cool, welcome to the forum - how do you like the humps? Curious if they impact your vision in traffic...

Enjoy your car!

We want pictures!

Post some pics when you get a chance. Congrats on the new ride.

The humps look great.. no problem at all with visibility IMHO.. and they actually help slightly with the wind buffing at 70mph ;)

Congrats on picking up the new ride

Sweet ... what year is your S? My co-worker has an 03 "S" and it is fast.

What makes me sad is that the Bosxster S is
slower than the 350z. Nissan mocks the Boxster in their ads too.

All the more reason to add Mods and go out and dust a few. Thats what I did :)

Alshig 10-17-2003 03:19 PM

If you had $1000 to spend what mods would you suggest for dusting?

I agree that the 350Z is faster but how can we compare the boxster with the 350Z. The boxster is a mid-engine car and the 350Z is front (mid front) engine.
One thing for sure, the boxster out perform the 350Z in term of cornner handling :-).
I was fortunate to drive both cars and the 350z is a little bit of understeering when you try to go hard on cornner.

hmm.....only $1000...i would most likely say that wouldnt be enough to do it, but maybe start with the air intake. thats within that price range. i have done about $20,000 in mods so far. split pretty evenly between performance mods and looks. I am hoping to do a BiTurbo this winter. Should put me in the 440 Hp range. I have managed to get my 986 up to 295 Hp from the 2.7 L engine without turbos or NoS. Lots of time and money :)
But will eat the 350z no problemo :)

I read the Excellence magazine and notice some distributors try to advertising "33hp increase kit" for the boxster. Does any body know how much does it cost? I notice they mention the mods are intake, sport muffler and chip mods (ECU).
Also, where do you go to install all these mods (beside the dealer), if you live in the bay area?

Thanks,

Do you have to keep the top down at all times when you have the humps?

rorye 10-21-2003 02:30 PM

S-Car-Go in San Rafael do the upgrade and lots of other neat stuff. Rob King owns the place, fixed up my '98 when it was side-swiped by a grocery truck!

Thanks for the info, rorye
